Playacting: a new requirement in modern day football [Jun 14, 2014]

MaxxRamblings (Football): In my humble opinion, I think FIFA is putting its money to solve the wrong issues. Instead of installing 14 cameras beside each goalpost, trying to determine whether the ball had crossed the line, I think that they should be more inclined to solving the more pressing issue that dogs the sport - PLAYACTING.

It is an evil that plagues the sport and ruins the moments like nothing else and every one seems to be afflicted by it. Even the current legends have mastered the art of feigning.. It not just spoils the game momentarily but may change the final outcome as well. Even in the wee hours of this years World cup (2014), we see that teams are well into this heinous act... I, as an ardent follower and supporter of the best game of the world, am sick and tired of players ducking, diving, feigning injury trying to win a decision from the refs. But we have to remember all that they are trying to extract a decision which ultimately is unjust and unfair, and FIFA should make it illegal as well. Looks so stupid that a footballer who is built like a gladiator (as demands the tough and enduring nature of the game), but crumbling down like a pack of cards when he is touched by an opponent.(moonstruck!!)

I don't think it would take much to dissuade the otherwise champs to keep off this unfair practise. Obviously they didnt strat to play the game with the theatrics, all have their fundamentals firmly in place and just a shaking of the system can get rid of this evil. Post match review system, which is already in place, needs to be given more teeth, If a team is tonked for such unfair practise, like deducting points or banning the players for the rest of the tournament, it should be deterrent enough.

Coaches: I read somewhere that now we have specialized coaches who teach the how to take the plunge most conclusively. Instead, instill the good habits and help better the game.

And players: if you still want to exercise your acting skills over your ball playing skills then I request that you to switch over to showbiz, where it will definitely be appreciated.. Oscars and not the Cup awaits you!!!!
