MaxxRamblings: Had one of my best weekends EVER!!! We had an impromptu trip to the San Diego Sea World.. Supposedly the best of all the Water Parks of the world. And for a avid Animal lover, nature freak, it was the biggest treat.. The shows that we watched were...
1. The Blue Horizon Show.. featuring, Dolphins, Pilot Whales, Macaws, Pelicans, Hawks and Vultures besides a host of handlers and acrobats.. It has a beautiful storyline enacted too..
2. The Shamu Show, the best known Killer Whale show of the world, featuring about 10 whales.. and boy are they big!!!!!! they could splash upto 20 rows with a single swipe from their tailfin. The Whales were a delight to watch as they danced, jumped, performed tricks and pirouetted around the gigantic tank..
3. The Sea Lions and the Otters Show, Another very funny show by performing two California Sea Lions and an Otter..
and then there were 5 or 6 other shows and 20 different exhibition centers, featuring, Dolphins, Sharks, Turtles, Beluga whales, Polar Bears, Walruses, Otters, Llamas, Alligators, Armadillos and many many more animals..
The best part was to get splashed by the Dolphins and Whales... Oh boy do u get completely soaked or what!!!
It was quite a expensive show, but boy was it every penny well spent or what!!! I just had a small thorn pricking my conscience all thru everywhere I enjoyed, it was about my boy Wrik and how too would have enjoyed had he been part of the entourage.. I would definitely get him to it .. someday!!!
It was an experience of a life time, especially for a wildlife enthusiast like me.. I could never in my lifetime imagine of getting so close to a Killer Whale or a Dolphin or a shark. The Walruses, Beluga whales and the Pilot whales were shrouded with mysticism. The elan and ease of the performances of the trainers and the acrobats was awe inspiring.. I couldn't take any pix of the Madagascar show, since it was pitch dark. I had touched on a alligator baby, albeit under supervision of its caretaker.. There was a show featuring pets like Dogs, Cats and Pigs, the nicest thing to know were they were mostly from rescue homes..There were more than 100 exhibits in all.. a must visit for the people who are visiting San Diego or nearby..
Later on the day, After I had uploaded the pix, a friend had replied with his thoughts about such shows where amidst all the fanfare we forget that these majestic creatures are still captives who will never ever have the pleasure of wandering in the vast sea and will be forever doomed to be creatures proving pleasures to human beings.... I was toughed and on introspection found much merit to it... I researched a lot and found a lot of documents in the internet about the great dark underbelly of such fun parks...
